Still Alive

...but just barely. When I said last week was busy, it was the understatement of the year. Just about every day was filled with last minute wedding errands. By the end I was so tired I thought I was going to die. So these last few days I've done a bunch of nothing and tried to get my strength back.

I am starting to feel like a human being again.

My apartment is a mess of course, so I am also slowly getting that back under control. Just in time for the holidays!

I haven't had time to work on my book, nor the energy, but now that I am feeling more human I will be getting back to work today. I have managed to do a lot of thinking about the novel, and sometimes that's better than writing.

I was sort of struggling with the pacing and the character development, and this forced time away was enough time to give me some space to think about what the problem was and how to fix it. So even though I didn't get to write the book, I still managed to work on it. :D

How are you all doing with your book? Your family plans?

  1. Glad to hear you survived the wedding. Those are just so crazy (and fun, of course, but a party that big always has just.one.more.thing).

  2. You feel like a human again - so, what, you weren't feeling with your fingers, but now you are? ;-)

Still trying to get an agent for the book.

Family plans: Get through next week (finals week and my son's 20th birthday - can't believe he won't be a teen any more!), then do ridiculous amounts of Christmas baking. Visitors are welcome, and generally greeted with cookies. Or some such.

Other writing - I got my Christmas/Holiday cards DONE. Phew. Every years, it is like an albatross around my neck. What a load off!

But that probably isn't the type of writing you were referring to.

  3. Rena: I KNOW! And even though a lot of stuff was either handled for us, or already taken care of, there's still so much stuff that seems to come up.

Linda: Yes, Christmas cards are a bane. Congrats on getting them done and good luck with the agent.

  4. Nothing like external stress to help relieve some of the writing stress, huh?

I'm super impressed with people who actually do Christmas cards... makes me feel like a bad relative/friend. But I'm not married and I don't have kids, so I feel like that's kind of an excuse for not doing cards (right? right?).

I'm glad you pulled through and are returning to a human form (but that you gained inspiration from your "non-human" self).

I also have been out of commission for the last few weeks, but stepping back into the blog and writing realms. We should post-Nano word wars sometime soon. :)

  5. Liz: I feel the same way about Christmas cards! Like it's something I should be doing, but I don't really see the point, you know? I still see most of my immediate family for Christmas, so it doesn't seem like a big deal.

And we should totally do post-Nano word wars!
